FREE AS AIR 1963

Free as Air was the first Testudo production staged on October 24th – 26th 1963 at Seaton Town Hall with a matinee on Saturday at 2.30pm. A few rare copies of the programme still exist. Production was by Shirely Lovell with musical direction by Joe Beer. Joe was a solicitor with Beviss and Beckingsale in their Colyton office at that time. “Testudo” is an ensemble piece in Act II of this show by Dorothy Reynolds and Julian Slade. Amongst “ thanks given” in the programme we see thanks to Des Garrett for making the stocks and “The Caribou” for the loan of bar stools - where on earth was that?
